S.A.V.E.

Increasing incidents of violence in schools have reached crisis proportions over the past decade. To help educators cope, we created a two-hour violence prevention workshop for educators just entering the field and experienced classroom vets alike. The workshop meets certication requirements for the "Safe Schools Against Violence in Education (S.A.V.E.) Act" signed into law in New York in 2000.
Through this program, available at St. John's University and Iona College, teachers learn to recognize and prevent violence not just in the classroom, but throughout the school environment and community. Topics covered include the identifying the warning signs and impact of bullying, the role of school staff in protecting kids, strategies for dealing with "at-risk" kids.
